Shuttleworth Linux Desktop domination is only time
Shuttleworth Linux desktop domination is only a matter of time
Have to say I agree, with the latest release of Ubuntu Edgy most stuff just works, and once you have used any form of Linux for a little while, and got over the culture shock of it not being Windows, you realise how much time you spend fire fighting with Windows rather than it just working. With Vista having spawned so many versions and needing such a high spec machine , I think that come 6 months, Linux and in particular Ubuntu is going to have carved itself into a very strong corner.

One for David Cameron and the Conservative party
http://blog.foreignpolicy.com/node/2281
apparently we can save an awfull lot of carbon emissions and money $5 billion no less if, microsoft would just force users to use power saving modes via windows update, intresting idea, I am more intrested to see if the Conservatives would be willing to confront a large multi national, rather than the man in the street who is far easier to tax, just think if theres less emissions there will be more hoodies to hug!

Balmer - Linux owe us
Pay us or we release the hounds!
Another good use of software patents m$ are realising that Linux is catching up with them rapidly on the desktop and surpassed them on the server ground, they have realised the only way they can make money now is to sue everyone else! or maybe its just me

Cant afford a mac make Ubuntu look like one
Now alot of my work mates have macs in particular our lead artist is mac through and through
although I can see the benefits and do agree they are shiny the price is a big put off for me
so if you want to make ubuntu look like macosx and save yourself a few hundred (probably enough to paint the pc you used white)
I want Shiny Macness looks like a good place to start

Ubuntu packaged up with codecs
Whilst I know and freely admit I do the same with ubuntu and automatix available at getautomatix.com
I cant help but feel this packing of ubuntu is a little cheap and fail to see the value add in it

PS3 Twin HDMI 1080p - Next gen "starts when we say so"
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/15/720p-ps3-games-downscale-on-older-hd-sets/
After all the talk now that the ps3 is finally released seems its not quite living up to the power house of a machine that it was meant tobe. I think the title of this blog and the sound bite when the xbox 360 was launched by the sony reps at E3 compared to what they have delivered today is highly amusing, hopefully better things are to come

Binary Drivers in Ubuntu Feisty is it a slippery slope?
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297392
my thoughts on this matter are that it is a slippery slope into closed source drivers like has happened with wifi and ndiswrapper,
but on the other hand more people will flock to Ubuntu the easier it is to use, so think the choice option is best, however I do think its need illustrating to the user that the next time they purchase a piece of hardware to vote with their wallet and get something that is supported natively, as this is the only way the corporates will take notice, but Linux needs more users before that will have an effect so I think by making the adoption process easier, that lobby group can be achieved

Sacha Baron Cohens Borat Film
Went and saw this at the weekend, whilst at the time it seemed to drag on for maybe a little to long you realise once you come out of the cinema that he over stepped the mark far too many times and was actually brilliant
the best quote from the film has to be "very nice, how much?"

Britney Spears Sex tape
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline sex tape
Along with paris hiltons ex it seems britneys ex is obviously going to do himself proud and run ruin over the pre nup and pimp the tape to the highest bidder, wonder how long the daily sport will be running britney spears sex tape shocker for, according to the gospel that is the News of the World, this is worth around 24million, not bad for a couple of minutes filming, imagine some actors are demanding payrises right now
